5-7-2009. . . .Temptation!
There is nothing more annoying on an otherwise beauty day in the sun than to have a fly buzzing around you. You hit at it. . . .swipe at it . . . .swing at it. . . .even (for some) swear at it. It leaves for a moment, but seems to somehow return. That’s how Satan is with temptation. He leaves you for moment, but seems to always return. Even Jesus while living here on earth as a man was not exempt from this tactic. “Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.”( Luke 4:13 NKJV) He waits, he watches and in the moment he feels you are most vulnerable or susceptible to his appeal, there he is back in your ear. Why is he so persistent? Perhaps he knows if we are not watchful, prayerful and careful, there is the possibility of us being drawn away and enticed. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:14-15 KJV) It’s clear by his persistent tactic that he wants to still, kill or destroy us and if he can get us to be complicit with his plan, all the better! When faced with the challenge of temptation remember, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”( Cor 10:13 KJV) Ask the Savior to help you. . . .comfort strengthen and keep you. . . .He is willing to aid you. . . .He will carry you through.
Prayer: Lord, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil! Help us always look for and see our way of escape. Amen!
Heb 4:15. . . .For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. KJV
