4-22-2009. . . .Watch Your Mouth!
Ever say something to someone and as soon as the final word fell from your lips, you wished you could take it back? Remember seeing the expression on the person’s face that indicated they were offended by what you said? On the other hand, remember saying something to someone and instantly after you said it, their whole mood and demeanor changed and they were obviously blessed and uplifted by what you said. That is the power we have in our mouths. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." (Prov 18:21KJV! ) We have the ability to speak life or death to a situation or circumstance. It all depends on which we choose to do. I would like to believe that most of us intentionally set out daily to speak life into every situation and circumstance we encounter however, there are times when we end up doing the complete opposite and speak death instead of life. What is speaking death? That which causes separation and disunity. . . . being harsh or rude. . . .being negative and condescending. . . . engaging in or entertaining conversations not becoming a Christian. Speaking life on the other hand, is that which brings together. . . .builds up and encourages. . . .supports and defends. “Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Try always to be led along together by the Holy Spirit and so be at peace with one another.” ( Eph 4:2-3 TLB) One word can cause a war or bring about peace. . . . one word can stir up strife and turmoil or bring calm and comfort. Therefore, a heart examination is desperately needed; for out of it’s reservoir the mouth speaks! “ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; (LIFE) and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: (DEATH) for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:45 KJV) The choice is ours today! Let's choose to speak life and not death!
Prayer: Lord, use my mouth today to speak only life! Strengthen me in those times when I'm tempted to say and do otherwise! Thank you Lord, Amen!
Ps 19:14. . . . Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.KJV
