SERVICE AND OBEDIENCE!

 6-25-2024. . . .SERVICE AND OBEDIENCE!

"And so my advice is, leave these men alone. If what they teach and do is merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop them, lest you find yourselves fighting even against God." (Acts 5:38-39 TLB)

Although, we may not like or agree with decisions our leaders make or directions our leaders take, it doesn't mean they are not being lead by God.  God has not called us to agreement, but to service and obedience.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for set men and women who you alone have appointed and anointed to be our leaders.  Help us to be their help and not their hindrance!  Amen.

Heb 13:17. . . .Obey your spiritual leaders and be willing to do what they say. For their work is to watch over your souls, and God will judge them on how well they do this. Give them reason to report joyfully about you to the Lord and not with sorrow, for then you will suffer for it too. TLB

UNDER COMSTRUCTION!

6-12-2024. . . .UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

"The LORD will fulfill [his purpose] for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever--do not abandon the works of your hands." (Ps 138:8 NIV)

God never starts something without completing it!  The purpose He had for and set in us is yet ongoing and will be until to fruition.  So life at times may get dusty, dirty and disarranged, most construction projects do; but rest assured, it will come together in the end.

PRAYER: Lord, have your way in our lives!  Do what only you can do.  Help us to remain always in your will and out of your way.  Your will be done.  Amen!

Phil 2:13. . . . For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. KJV

DON'T BE MIA!

6-11-2024. . . .DON'T BE MIA!

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.   (Ezekiel 22:30 kjv)

By far this hast to be one of the saddest inditements against mankind in all of scripture!  To think that the omnipotent, omniscience, omnipresent God desired to used just one somebody and all were M I A! (Missing In Action)  God does not need any of us but He desires to use any and/or all of us to accomplish His will!  The challenge for us today is: Are we or will we be availible to answer when He calls or will we too, be MIA!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for the opportunity of life.  Help us to never be so caught up in our own agendas that we fail to make ourselves available for yours.  Amen!

ISAIAH 6:8. . . .Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

FAVOR WHEN NEEDED!

 6-5-2024. . . .FAVOR WHEN NEEDED!

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Cor 9:8-9 NIV)

God rewards our faithfulness and generosity with favor when needed!  In the times that we forget and wonder how we are going to work things out, God reminds us that He has reserved favor for us and will release it to us at the needed time!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for reserved favor!  Amen.

2 Peter 1:3-4. . . .For as you know him better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life: he even shares his own glory and his own goodness with us! TLB

E X P E C T A T I O N !

6-24-2014. . . .E X P E C T A T I O N!

"See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." (Isa 43:19 NIV)

 God never runs out of ways of making a way!  Therefore, we should never be without of E X P E C T A T I O N!

Prayer: Lord, you are a way maker!  Thank you for continuously making ways for us!  Amen.

Rom 8:31. . . .What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? KJV

REMEMBER WHAT YOU KNOW

 5-29-2024. . . .REMEMBER WHAT YOU KNOW!

"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.  (Isa 40:27-28 KJV)

It is not uncommon for us to experience times of weariness, exhaustion, and even become exasperated about our struggles and challenges that seem will never change.  God, however, experiences none of these things!  He remains sovereign, faithful, powerful, in control and has every thing under control!  Don't give up, out, over or in!  Remember Who you know and What you know!

PRAYER: Lord, from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God!  May our feeble minds never in frustration forget who you are and fail to rely and call on you for strength!  Amen.

Ps 90:1-2. . . .LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.  KJV

KEEP THE PRIORITIES STRAIGHT!

5-28-2025. . . .KEEP THE PRIORITIES STRAIGHT!

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” (Matt 6:25-26 NIV)

Food, water and clothing while essential for sustaining life, should never be elevated to a level of priority above life itself!  The clothes one wears does not make the person. . . .it’s the person (life) that makes the clothes! Keep the priorities straight!  Place emphasis on the essence of life rather than the things of life!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the privilege of life! Help us keep our priorities straight and put more emphasis on the essence of life rather than the things of life! Amen!

Matt 6:25. . . .Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? KJV

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

5-24-2024. . . .SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

"And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.   But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.  And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague."  (Mark 5:31-34 KJV)

The power of a purposeful touch is amazing.  For the woman with the issue of blood, it produced her healing and got Jesus' attention!  If believers everywhere would reach out with purpose and touch the world, what amazing things would that produce and how much attention from Jesus would that receive?  Something to think about!

PRAYER: Lord, you touched the world with your love and it has produced and is producing generations of believers.  Help us to purposefully touch the world as well.  Amen!

Matt 5:13-14. . . .Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. KJV

WORK & WORSHIP!

 5-22-2024. . . .WORK & WORSHIP!

"Six days a week are for your daily duties and your regular work, but the seventh day is a day of Sabbath rest before the Lord your God. On that day you are to do no work of any kind, nor shall your son, daughter, or slaves-whether men or women-or your cattle or your house guests. For in six days the Lord made the heaven, earth, and sea, and everything in them, and rested the seventh day; so he blessed the Sabbath day and set it aside for rest."  (Ex 20:8-11 TLB)

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!  Well, I don't know about Jack's dullness, but I do know that without periods of rest and recuperation, we will suffer burn out!   That was never God's intention for us.  There must be balance!  Try Work and Worship; it’s a great counter balance.

Prayer: Lord, help us to follow your example and command to work and rest.  Amen!

Deut 5:12-15. . . . "'Keep the Sabbath day holy. This is my command.  Work the other six days, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God; no work shall be done that day by you or by any of your household-your sons, daughters, servants, oxen, donkeys, or cattle; even foreigners living among you must obey this law. Everybody must rest as you do. TLB

HOW CAN WE FAIL!

5-17-2024. . . .HOW CAN WE FAIL!

"Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore."  (Ps 105:3-4 KJV)

In every endeavor of life, heeding these words of the psalmist will ensure success.  With His presence and His strength, how can we fail!

Prayer: Lord, there is no failure with you!  Be present with us and strengthen us in and through every endeavor of life.  Amen!

Ps 89:16-18. . . . They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation and in your perfect righteousness.  You are their strength. What glory! Our power is based on your favor!  TLB

EMBRACE GLORY!

 5-16-2024. . . .EMBRACE GLORY!

"For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (2 Cor 12:8-9 KJV)

Giving God our all includes our weakness and inabilities!  Our weakness and inabilities are opportunities for God's strength to be made manifest in us.  Seek not to be released from them; embrace them and embrace glory!

Prayer: Lord, manifest your strength through our weakness and inabilities.  Let your glory be shown.  Amen!

2 Cor 12:8-10. . . . Three different times I begged God to make me well again.  Each time he said, "No. But I am with you; that is all you need. My power shows up best in weak people." Now I am glad to boast about how weak I am; I am glad to be a living demonstration of Christ's power, instead of showing off my own power and abilities.  TLB

CONTENTMENT AND SATISFACTION!

 5-15-2024. . . .CONTENTMENT AND SATISFACTION!

"Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing  prepared.  This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." (Neh 8:10 NIV)

Nothing brings greater joy than to be put in remembrance of God's precious promises to us, and His faithfulness in bringing them to pass in our lives!   Past failures are just that; past!  The joy of the Lord is our source of great contentment and satisfaction; it is our strength for service to others.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your joy and the strength to serve others.  May we never loose our contentment and satisfaction in it.  Amen.

Ps 29:11-30:1. . . . The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. NIV

STAY STRONG IN IN THE LORD!

 5-14-2024. . . .NO ABATEMENT!

"I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent us on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then!  So I'm asking that you give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as spies we found the Anakim living there in great, walled cities, but if the Lord is with me, I shall drive them out of the land." (Josh 14:10-12 TLB)

To the faithful and obedient, the strength of the Lord is sustainable for our current assignments, tasks and battles, as well as, all future ones, with no abatement!   Stay strong in the Lord!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for strength to meet every challenge both today and in the future. Amen!

2 Sam 22:40-41. . . . For you have given me strength for the battle And have caused me to subdue All those who rose against me.  You have made my enemies Turn and run away; I have destroyed them all.  TLB

BE DONE AND MOVE ON!

5-10-2024. . . .BE DONE AND MOVE ON!

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all" (Ps 34:19 KJV)

The life of the righteous is not without it's challenges and rightfully so.  We too must go through difficulties and problems.  As we go through however, we are assured that we will get through because the LORD promised it!  So go through, get through, be done and move on!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for deliverance from all our afflictions.  With the assurance of your promise we endure and press on!  Amen.

Ps 23:4. . . .Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  KJV

HE RIGHTEOUS PREVAIL ALWAYS!

5-9-2024. . . .THE RIGHTEOUS PREVAIL ALWAYS!

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.  But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee."  (Ps 55:22-23 KJV)

It is the Lord himself who establishes the righteous and He also sustains them especially in times of stress.  Haters, (always present) will be dealt with in due time as the righteous prevail always.

PRAYER:  Lord, thank you for establishing the righteous forever.  Prosper us as we stand firm in you!  Deal swiftly with all haters.  Amen!

Ps 68:1-3. . . .Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.  As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.  But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.  KJV

TURN WE MUST!

 5-8-2024. . . .TURN WE MUST!

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."  (2 Chron 7:14 KJV)

God has already done His part in dealing with the sin problem.  It is now up to us to do our part.  The question is, do we really want to?  The appeal of sin is like a luscious red apple that appears beautiful on the outside but once bitten, we discover it is rotten to the core on the inside.  It is hard to turn from something we really want, but turn we must!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for doing your part in dealing with the sin problem.  Help us now to do our part and turn from our sins so that you can heal our land.  Amen!

James 1:12-16. . . . And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it.  Temptation is the pull of man's own evil thoughts and wishes. These evil thoughts lead to evil actions and afterwards to the death penalty from God. 16 So don't be misled, dear brothers. TLB

TAKE THE TIME WHILE THERE IS TIME

EXCERPTS FOR LIVING!   5-7-2024. . . .TAKE THE TIME WHILE THERE IS TIME

"I will judge each of you, O Israel, and punish or reward each according to his own actions. Oh, turn from your sins while there is yet time. Put them behind you and receive a new heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, O Israel?  I do not enjoy seeing you die," the Lord God says. "Turn, turn and live!"  (Ezek 18:29-32 TLB)

Nowadays, no one wants to talk about are even hear about sin.  God on the other hand has not changed his position on it!  He will judge it and punish us for it if we don't repent.  Take the time while there is time to get it right and make it right!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for your grace and mercy!  Help us to never take it for granted and continue in our sins.  Amen!

Ezek 36:26-27. . . . And I will give you a new heart-I will give you new and right desires-and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you new hearts of love.  And I will put my Spirit within you so that you will obey my laws and do whatever I command. TLB

WATCH YOUR MOUTH!

5-3-2024. . . . .WATCH YOUR MOUTH!

He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity. (Prov 21:23 NIV)

Having one's foot stuck in one's mouth is quite the precarious position!  Nevertheless, that is exactly the position one assumes who is not careful about what he speaks!  Nothing but trouble can come of it!  Watch your mouth!

PRAYER: Lord, help us to guard our mouths so that what we speak is always worthy of you hearing!  Amen.

Ps 139:3-4. . . .You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.  Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.  NIV

5-2-2024. . . .LIVE IT OUT!

"It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others." (Eph 2:10 TLB)

God created us on purpose and with purpose.  We live out that purpose fully by extending ourselves to help others.  Live it out!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for creating us on purpose and with purpose!  Help us live out that purpose by helping others.  Amen!

Eccl 4:9-10. . . . Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better. 10 If one falls, the other pulls him up; but if a man falls when he is alone, he's in trouble. TLB

STAND OUT!

4-30-2024. . . .STAND OUT!

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" 1 Peter 2:9 KJV

Believers, we are a wonderful blend of royalty and divinity.  Unique and unlike any other people on earth.  We stand out because we should stand out and not only so, we must also stand up!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for the unique way you made us.  May we shine brightly and always stand out among all people!  Amen.

Phil 2:14-16. . . .In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing 15 so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of people who are crooked and stubborn. Shine out among them like beacon lights, 16 holding out to them the Word of Life. TLB

HE KNOWS!

4-26-2024. . . .HE KNOWS!

"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him." (Nah 1:7 KJV)

God cannot be fooled; He knows and responds to those that truly place their trust in Him!  Either we trust Him or we don't.  He knows,,,, and His response to us is the proof in the pudding!

Prayer: Lord, you know well all who put their trust in You.  Thank you for being our help in times of trouble and a strong hold against our enemies.  Amen!

Isa 26:3-4. . . .Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.   Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: KJV

TRUST HIM!

 4-25-2024. . . .TRUST HIM!

"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.  I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies." (Ps 18:2-3 KJV)

When God is for us, all they who are against us are of little or no consequence!  Don't sweat it. . . .Trust Him!  Declare: I am stable and protected; He is my way out; He gives me what I need to make it through this; He is my shield and way of escape!

Prayer: Lord, in you we trust.  We are safe and secure in spite of the existence of enemies.  Our trust remains strong in you!  Amen!

Rom 8:31. . . . What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?  KJV

ENDURE!

 4-24-2024. . . .ENDURE!

"Keep your eyes on Jesus, our leader and instructor. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterwards; and now he sits in the place of honor by the throne of God."  (Heb 12:2 TLB)

Let us remember always that the pain and agony Christ experienced for us was very real, yet for our sake, (the joy of presenting us faultless before the presence of His glory) He endured it!  Because He went through, He is able to help all those that are going through!   ENDURE!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for going through for us!  Strengthen now everyone who is going through that we might endure to the end as well.  Amen!

Heb 2:17-18. . . .For since he himself has now been through suffering and temptation, he knows what it is like when we suffer and are tempted, and he is wonderfully able to help us.  TLB

THERE IS NOTHING TOO HARD FOR GOD!

4-19-2024. . . .THERE IS NOTHING TOO HARD FOR GOD!

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

The daily postings of Excerpts For Living have not been posted this week because a week ago today my world was litterally turned upside down as a result of my precious wife, Coretta, suffering a life threatening injury that has landed her in UAB Hospital.  She remains there at this moment battling for her life.

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you that have prayed, expressed words of encouragement and expressed your concerns even without knowing what was going on.  She is yet fighting and we have been standing firm in our faith, believing God for a miracle!

I ask for your continued prayers for my family and I as we navigate this very challenging circumstance.  Let me state categorically and infatically, GOD IS A MIRCLE WORKER and there is Nothing too hard for God!

Please agree in faith with us and stay on the wall bombarding Heaven with your prayers for our precious Coretta!

Thank you, I love you and God loves you too!

Prayerfully, Elder Perry Broadnax~

NOTHING TO CHANCE!

EXCERPTS FOR LIVING!    4-25-2012. . . .NOTHING TO CHANCE!

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." (Prov 3:5-6 KJV)

No one in their right mind would willfully engage in a came of Russian Roulette.  The stakes are too high; the results unpredictable; and one mistake could be deadly!  Failing to trust God and following our own way should be viewed in much the same way!  The stakes are to high; results unpredictable; and one mistake could be deadly!  Leave nothing to chance.  TRUST GOD!

Prayer: Lord, our trust is in you.  The stakes are to high not to!  With you, we expect and have predictable outcomes.  Amen!

Prov 3:5-6. . . . Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. KJ

A DO OVER!

4-10-2024. . . .A DO OVER!

"But God is so rich in mercy; he loved us so much that even though we were spiritually dead and doomed by our sins, he gave us back our lives again when he raised Christ from the dead-only by his undeserved favor have we ever been saved."  (Eph 2:4-5 TLB)

Life does not offer us many "Do Overs."  We have to play the hand we have been dealt so to speak.  Christ however, by dying on the cross for our sins, has in effect, given us a 'Do Over!'   The question is, what will we do with it?

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for giving us another chance.  Help us to make the best of it by being the best and doing the best we can!  Amen.

Gal 2:20. . . .I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. KJV
