"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." (Jer 17:9-10 KJV) We've all heard it said and perhaps have even said, "Well, the Lord knows my heart!" Truer words have never been spoken and if we really understood this, we'd be much more careful before using this statement to justify our failed behavioral choices. When trusting our hearts to the Lord, we avoid it's inherent wickedness.
PRAYER: Lord, you indeed know our hearts and reward us according to what we do, good or evil! Help us to trust our hearts to you and avoid its inherent wickedness. Amen!
Matt 12:35. . . . A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. KJV
