6-4-2009. . . . Christ, Our All in All!
In a time of confusion and indecision, Thomas, one of the disciples questioned, “…Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? (John 14:5 KJV) His question referred to Jesus’ announcement that He would be leaving and going to prepare a place for them. Put another way, he asked, ‘How are we to live and make it without you’? Jesus replied, “I am the way, the truth, and the life:...(John 14:6 KJV) Jesus never intended for His disciples or us to live without Him, but to live by Him. . . .In Him. . . .and through Him. In Him is all we need! He is the Way! (Direction) We need never stray or loose or way if we keep our eyes focused on Him. He is the Truth! (Measure) As with the plumbline of Amos 7, so Christ is the measure by which we determine what we allow in our lives and what we eliminate from our lives. Everything and everyone that does not stand up to the measure of the truth of Christ is not for us. He is the Life! (Resource) “For in him we live, and move, and have our being;…” (Acts 17:28 KJV ) As our resource we need not be in want. It is what David meant when describing the Lord as his shepherd, “I Shall Not Want.” “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:19 KJV)
Prayer:Lord thank you that you are my all in all! There is nothing I need outside of you! Holy Spirit keep me mindful that you are my Direction – Measure and Resource. Amen!
Ps 19:7-10. . . . The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. NIV
