12-31-2015. . . .HAPPY NEW YEAR - ENCOURAGE YOURSELF!

In these waning moments of the year 2021, I pause to give praises to God for bringing us to this moment. As I ponder with great anticipation the new year, I encourage you and myself to remember and know that "GOD IS WITH US AND FOR US!"  If God be for US, who or what can be against US.  

I decree and declare this afresh in the face of all that has happen to us in this past year both bad and good.  Remember, that it was God that allowed us to come to it and it is that same God that will and is bringing us through it!  So we commit the past year 2021 to Him; for it is He only that can and will judge it. We commit this new year 2022, with all its potential and promises, unto Him; for He only determines our future.  Therefore, "Now unto Him that is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.   Amen.

OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW!

12-30-2021 . . .OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW!

"When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!" (2 Cor 5:17 TLB)

The process of sanctification is continual. Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly we should see more and more of our old sinful nature leave and more and more of the divine nature of Christ manifested.  The more willing we are to release the old, the more willing He is to manifest the new!  So, as this year comes to a close, its a good time to say and mean, OUT WITH OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW!   Happy New Year!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for another year.  Lord as we enter a brand new year, one we've never seen before and will never see again, help us to be more yielded to your Spirit!  Let the old be gone and the new come.  Amen!

2 Peter 1:2-4. . . .Do you want more and more of God's kindness and peace? Then learn to know him better and better.  For as you know him better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life: he even shares his own glory and his own goodness with us!  And by that same mighty power he has given us all the other rich and wonderful blessings he promised; for instance, the promise to save us from the lust and rottenness all around us, and to give us his own character.  TLB

A LOVING HEART AND A WILLING MIND!

12-29-2021. . . .A LOVING HEART AND A WILLING MIND!

"Stay always within the boundaries where God's love can reach and bless you. Wait patiently for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy is going to give you. Try to help those who argue against you. Be merciful to those who doubt.  Save some by snatching them as from the very flames of hell itself. And as for others, help them to find the Lord by being kind to them, but be careful that you yourselves aren't pulled along into their sins. Hate every trace of their sin while being merciful to them as sinners." (Jude 21-23 TLB)   

It is a great thing that we are saved, but what about the countless others that are not?  If we sit back in the comfortable confines of our sanctuaries expecting that they will one day just come running through our doors, we are sadly and most regrettably mistaken.  Those in sin are usually very comfortable being there until someone is bold enough to shine the light in their darkness. (Remember how it was when we were there?)  We have been given several options to reach them; we simply must have a loving heart and a willing mind to use them!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for saving us!  It is your will that no one be lost.  Help us to have a mind and a willing heart to come out of our comfort zones to reach the lost.   Amen!

2 Peter 3:9. . . . The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. KJV

IT'S ESSENTIAL!

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Ps 119:105 KJV)  

As headlights are essential to an automobile, so the word of God is essential to and in the life of believers! During the daytime the illuminated headlights of an automobile make it possible for everyone to see it coming.  During the nighttime, they enable drivers to see where they are going! God's word illuminated in the life of a believer, enables others to see Christ through us, while at the same time, making the our path clear as we continue walking with Christ! 

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your word that illuminates our lives and directs our paths. Amen!

Ps 119:101. . . .I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. (NIV)

As we celebrate and commemorate the birth of our Savior and Lord, Jesus the Christ, Coretta and I thank you for following and supporting "Excerpts For Living." Your prayers, comments and words of encouragement continue to be a source of blessing and inspiration for us. We wish you and your family all God's choice blessings during the holidays. We pray that the joy of Jesus will fill your hearts and homes to overflowing and that His love will forever embrace and keep you!

Prayer: Father, thank you for the gift of your son, Jesus! I pray for every person that reads this blog. I pray that you will blessed them beyond measure and show them great and mighty things they have not even imagined! I declare health, prosperity, protection and provision in and over their lives as well as, their families and everyone they are connected to. Finally, may your peace that surpasses all understanding keep their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus! In the name of our blessed Lord Jesus I pray, Amen!

 "You're in good hands with Allstate," is the slogan of this well-known insurance company.  The implication is, that there is no need to worry about anything because with Allstate, you're protected.  To an even greater degree, the same can be said of being in God's hands.  We have no need to worry about anything or fear anyone because we are not only in good hands, we are in the best hands.

PRAYER:  Lord, your hands are the best hands and we are thankful to be in them!  Amen.

"Santa Claus can't bring Salvation. . . .Only Jesus Can!"  He's the only reason for the Christmas Season!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the true Christ of Christmas, your only begotten Son, Jesus. Through Him alone comes salvation.  May all the world receive your great gift.  Amen!

Acts 4:11-12. . . .For Jesus the Messiah is (the one referred to in the Scriptures when they speak of ) a 'stone discarded by the builders which became the capstone of the arch.'    There is salvation in no one else! Under all heaven there is no other name for men to call upon to save them."  TLB

PREPARE FOR GREATER!

12-17-2021. . . .PREPARE FOR GREATER!

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." ( Phil 3:13-14 KJV)  

Nothing more can be done about the things in our past; that includes the good things as well as, the not so good things.  There is however, much to be done about what lies ahead of us!  Although, there may be giants in the land, (obstacles, things to overcome) we are well able to achieve if we set our minds to press forward no matter what.  The prize is ahead of us not behind us!  Prepare for greater!  

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the opportunity of living this life..  We will not be detoured by obstacles or hindrances that may appear in our way.  In You we press ahead toward the prize!  Amen.

Heb 12:1-2. . . . Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us.   Keep your eyes on Jesus, our leader and instructor. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterwards; and now he sits in the place of honor by the throne of God.  TLB

LEARN QUICKLY!

12-16-2021. . . .LEARN QUICKLY!

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV)  

No man is an island and no man stands alone.  Don't allow pride to stand in the way of promotion!  Humility before God is demonstrated through our humility and submission to those He has placed in authority over us.  This teaching process places us on a fast track to promotion.  The quicker we learn, the shorter the length of the lesson!  Learn quickly then and don't be a candidate for remedial training!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for our process to promotion.  Although at times we may become impatient, help us to humbly submit to the process and to those you are using to perfect us through it.  Amen!

A POWERFUL KEY!

12-15-2021. . . .A POWERFUL KEY!

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:24 KJV) 

One should not deduct from this scripture that whatever is desired no matter what it is, can be received. That's simply not true. Our desires must be in line with God's will. The key point here is that one 'Believes' in association with what one prays. Why pray if you don't believe what you say you will see? We have a powerful key. . . .just, Believe!

Prayer: Lord, thank you that you hear and answer our prayers. Through faith we believe you and stand in expectation of receiving those things we desire. Amen!

Mark 11:22-24 24. . . .Listen to me! You can pray for anything, and if you believe, you have it; it's yours! TLB

HIS WORD ENDURES FOR EVER!

12-14-2014. . . .HIS WORD ENDURES FOR EVER!

"For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." (1 Peter 1:24-25 KJV)  

Everything we have is temporary and will pass away.  Some things sooner, other things later, but all will surely pass away.  There is however, one thing we have that will never pass away and that is, our New Life which came about by His word!  Our 'New Life' from Him, will continue into, 'Eternal Life' with Him.  It is certain because His word endures for ever!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the certainty of your word that endures for ever!  We live out our new life for you now, and look forward with joy, to living our eternal life with you in the place you've prepared for us!  Amen.

   

Heb 12:27-29. . . . And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.   Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:   For our God is a consuming fire. DIVINE PURPOSE

WE NEED GOD!

12-9-2021. . . .WE NEED GOD!

2 Chron 7:14-16. . . . then if my people will humble themselves and pray, and search for me, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.  I will listen, wide awake, to every prayer made in this place. TLB  

In times like these, we need God!  In fact, there is never a time that we don't need Him.  The people with the ability to contact God are those that are connected to God!  If there is to be change in the world, the people of God must call on Him to make it happen!  He's waiting to hear from us and He is willing and able to help us!

PRAYER: Lord, we need you!  The world needs you!  You Lord are our shield; our glory and the lifter of our heads.  Lord send your peace and be our peace.  Amen!

Heb 4:16. . . . So let us come boldly to the very throne of God and stay there to receive his mercy and to find grace to help us in our times of need.  TLB

DIVINE PURPOSE WILL PREVAIL!

12-8-2021. . . .DIVINE PURPOSE WILL PREVAIL!

"Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men." (Matt 2:166 KJV) 

 Divine purpose will always draw demonic opposition!  The good news is, no matter what the enemy does or how many attempts he makes to try and stop or kill us, all his efforts will fail and Divine purpose will prevail!

Prayer: Lord, thank you that your divine purpose concerning us will always prevail! Thy will be done. Amen!

Isa 54:17. . . .No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. KJV

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!

12-7-2021. . . .GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!

"Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.  My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips." (Ps 89:33-34 KJV)  

A clear picture of God's great faithfulness can be seen in the life of King David. Although he had some great victories and accomplishments, he also had some great transgressions and failures.  While David certainly incurred consequences for his transgressions, God remained committed (faithful) to the promise He made to.  We too, like King David, have had some transgressions and failures for which we received chastisement.  Nevertheless, God remains committed (faithful) to His promises to us!  Therefore, our song of praise remains, GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your faithfulness to us.  Truly your mercies are new every morning and wonderful to experience every day.  Great is thy faithfulness!  Amen.

Ps 89:30-35. . . . If his children forsake my laws and don't obey them, then I will punish them,  but I will never completely take away my loving-kindness from them, nor let my promise fail.  No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back one word of what I said.  For I have sworn to David (and a holy God can never lie) that his dynasty will go on forever, and his throne will continue to the end of time.  TLB

WE ARE WHO WE ARE!

12-3-2021. . . .WE ARE WHO WE ARE!

"And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.   But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."  (Matt 4:3-4 KJV)  

We are who God says we are!  What the tempter says or what our haters say is of little or no importance.  We don't have to prove who we are, (Jesus didn't fall for it) just be who we are!  Never feed off what the world has to offer, (bread alone) but by the proceeding word of God!  It will constantly and consistently lead us and verify to the world that we are who we are!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for declaring who we are, even before we were formed in the womb.  Living by your proceeding word verifies to the world that we are who we are!  Amen.

Heb 11:3. . . . Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear!   KJV

NEVER YIELD, PUT UP YOUR SHIELD!

12-2-2021. . . .NEVER YIELD, PUT UP YOUR SHIELD!

In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan.  (Eph 6:16 TLB)  

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!  We are in a battle!  The enemy, Satan, is not playing.  He is constantly shooting a barrage of fiery arrows at us.  Those arrows may come in many forms and take on different shapes. Nevertheless, no matter how many fiery arrows may come, or in whatever form or shape they may take, we can and will quench them all with our shield of faith!  We never yield, we simply put up our shield!

Prayer: Lord, we are determined to fight the good fight of faith.  We will never yield in spite of being constantly fired upon by the enemy!  Faith is our shield!  Amen.

1 Tim 6:11. . . .Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.  NIV

THEIR DEEDS WILL NOT SUCCEED!

"Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:  But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way."  (Matt 13:24-25 KJV)  

Always expect the enemy to be the enemy and to do what enemies do.  It should come as no surprise that they often do their dirty work behind our backs.  Fret not however. . . .their deeds will not succeed!

PRAYER:  Lord, thank you for giving us wisdom to know our enemies!  Thank you also for being in control and our strong tower against all of them.  Amen.
