Speed Bumps!


5-29-2009. . . . Speed Bumps!

Did you think or expect to arrive at your destiny without running into any difficulty or challenges? It would be nice, but it is unrealistic and unfruitful. The truth is, there are many things to learn on the road to our destiny and we would miss them all if we did not run into a ‘speed bump’ every now and then. Speed bumps are designed to slow us down when we are traveling to fast through certain zones. Are you currently in a zone where you feel you should be progressing much faster, but for some reason, no matter what you do, things are moving at a much slower pace then you would like. Perhaps you have hit a speed bump. Instead of being frustrated and fighting against the current, slow down and take careful notice of what is happening and going on around you. It is for your good and will equip you with the knowledge and experience needed as you continue on your journey towards your destiny. “Don't be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep traveling steadily along his pathway and in due season he will honor you with every blessing, and you will see the wicked destroyed. I myself have seen it happen: a proud and evil man, towering like a cedar of Lebanon, but when I looked again, he was gone! I searched but could not find him! But the good man-what a different story! For the good man-the blameless, the upright, the man of peace-he has a wonderful future ahead of him. For him there is a happy ending.” (Ps 37:34-38 TLB)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for ordering my steps as well as, my stops! Help me to be patient and learn what I need to learn when I am in a slow zone. Amen!

Kept!


5-28-2009. . . .Kept!

Somebody prayed for me. . . they had me on their mind . . . took the time and prayed for me. . . .I’m so glad they prayed….So very glad they prayed. . . .They took the time and prayed for me! That somebody was our Savior, Jesus Christ. One of final things Jesus did while here on earth was to take the time to pray for us! That prayer is still covering us today! “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.” ( John 17:15 KJV) Evil is constantly pursuing us but, God continues to keep us from it. “Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? (Job 1:9-10 KJV) Like He did for Job, God frustrates Satan’s plans of evil so that they cannot get to us. Knowing this gave David the confidence to declare “Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me!” (Ps. 23:4 KJV) What a wonderful reason to rejoice and be glad in this day that the Lord has made! We are being ‘kept’ because Jesus loved us enough to pray a prayer of protection for us!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for praying for me! Thank you for protecting me and keeping me from evil! You are my hedge and I am safe in you! Amen.

Hallowed Be Thy Name!


5-27-2009. . . . Hallowed Be Thy Name!

What’s in a name? When it comes to our God, a lot! His name not only denotes who He is, His name also denotes what He does! Jesus taught that His name is ‘hallowed’! “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” (Luke 11:2 KJV) When we hallow His name we not only revere, respect and honor Him, but we ‘set apart’ or separate His names! JEHOVAH-ROHI - -our Shepherd. . . . JEHOVAH- SHALOM - - our Peace. . . . JEHOVAH-ROPHE - - our healer. . . . JEHOVAH-SABAOTH - -the Lord of Host. . . . JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH - - the Lord is there. . . . JEHOVAH-JIREH - - our provider. The more we hallow (set apart) His name the more we discover who He is. . . .the more we discover who He is, the more we will experience what He does. “Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. “ ( Ps 75:1 KJV)


Prayer: Lord, your name is great! How mighty you are! Thank you that by your mighty hand you provide for all our need. I will bless your name at all times! Amen.

The Power of Your Prayer!


5-26-2009. . . . The Power of your Prayer!

Never under estimate the power of your prayers. It is a valuable resource God has given us to communicate directly with Him. When done effectually (sufficient to produce a desired effect) and fervently (with emotion, deep feeling) it will avail or bring forth much! The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16 KJV) As believers, we are confident that our prayers do not fall on deaf ears. God hears and answers our prayers! “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14-15 KJV) So, don’t be fearful or anxious simply go to God in prayer. He is waiting to hear from you and to respond when you call on Him. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” ( Phil 4:6 KJV)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for our direct line of communication with you. Thank you for always listening and responding to our prayers.

It Is What It Is!


5-22-2009. . . . “It Is What It Is”


“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” (Phil 4:12 NIV) Being ‘content’ according to the Apostle Paul is a learned state of being. I believe it comes from one’s ability to to accept and deal with the reality of “What Is.” IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!! I know that may be challenging for some to say, especially when we would really rather things be something different. However, to be able to look at your circumstance or situation and say ‘It is what it is’, is the first step toward engaging your faith to move in another direction. Now that I have accepted that ‘It is what it is’ all my energy can be directed toward moving from the current position instead of complaining and becoming frustrated about it or over it! If it is bad. . . .It is what it is. . . .If it is good. . . .It is what it is! Therefore, in every circumstance and situation, I am never too high in the good times or to low in the bad times or to complacent in the in between times. What was the Apostle Paul’s secret? Knowing, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” ( Phil 4:13 KJV) So can we!

Prayer: Lord, You are the source of my strength and the strength of my life! In you I live, I move and have my being! Help me Lord, to rest in you. Amen!

Heb 13:5-6. . . . Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. KJV

Give Us This Day!


5-21-2009. . . . Give Us This Day!

What do you need from God today? Before you answer, and then like me, come up with a long list of assorted things that fall more in the category of 'wants' rather than 'needs', Jesus simplified it for us in the model prayer He taught His disciples. ". . . .Give us this day our daily bread!. . ." Give us today those things that will nourish us physically, mentally and spiritually! Give us this day only that which will enable us to move forward in divine destiny and purpose. Give us this day things to make us better and to overcome those things in life that make us bitter. Give us this day revelation of your divine schedule for our lives and help us to stay on time and in time. "You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!" (Ps 139:16 TLB) Give us this day, that we might live to bring you glory and advance your kingdom here on earth! Lord, Give Us This Day!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for another day of life. You know what I have need of before I even ask. Therefore, I receive gladly what you have already determined to give me, for it is sufficient for me! Amen.

The Measure of Love!


5-20-2009. . . . The Measure of Love!

What is the measure of love? Can it be measured in inches, yards or feet? If it were a liquid, could it be measured in pints, quarts or gallons? Perhaps it can be weighted in ounces, pounds or tons. No, none of these is sufficient to measure love. Love is more than mere words effortlessly uttered from our lips. The real measure of love is in what it does. Love is what love does! “Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him. All the special gifts and powers from God will someday come to an end, but love goes on forever.” (1 Cor 13:4-8 TLB) What is the measure of your love? Is it in what you say, or in what you do? You be the judge.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for loving me through your actions. Being made in your image and after your likeness, may my love resemble yours in every way. Amen!

1 John 3:17-20. . . . Little children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions. Then we will know for sure, by our actions, that we are on God's side, and our consciences will be clear, even when we stand before the Lord. But if we have bad consciences and feel that we have done wrong, the Lord will surely feel it even more, for he knows everything we do. TLB

God's Thinking of You!


5-19-2009. . . . God’s Thinking of You!

The question is raised in Psalms 8, “What is man that thou art mindful of him. . .”? Put another way, ‘What is man that he is always on your mind’? This very moment, we are in God’s mind and on God’s mind. “How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can't even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me. And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me!” (Ps 139:17 TLB) What an awesome revelation to know that God is constantly thinking of us. His thoughts of us are always good and never evil. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” ( Jer 29:11 KJV) God’s thoughts are also His plans, and His plans are His manifested will! Everything good that happens and that is happening to us is a result of God’s thoughts in eternity being realized and carried out as our lives unfold. We should approach each day with excitement and with expectation of seeing what God has planned for us next! Get ready for the next manifestation!


Prayer: Lord, I am so glad you are always thinking of me and that I am never off your mind! You are so awesome and all your works are marvelous. Thank you for the privilege of experiencing them.

No Vacancies!


5-18-2009. . . . No Vacancies!

A man enters a hotel with the hope of getting a room for the evening. He walks up to the registration desk and makes his request. The attendant asked, Sir, do you have a reservation? No the man replied. The attendant then said, sorry sir, we have no vacancies! Without a reservation, there was no space available for the man to occupy. Picture your mind as a hotel and your thoughts as registered guest. The next time the enemy arrives at the hotel of your mind requesting a room for doubt. . . .fear. . . disappointment. . . .discouragement. . . .suicide. . . .disobedience and any number of other evil thoughts, as the attendant (guardian) of your mind, ask, do you have a reservation? You cannot control what thoughts come to your mind, but you can control whether they are allowed to stay in your mind and on your mind. Reply to the enemy,' No Vacancies!' Guard your thoughts! Every act of disobedience begins with a thought! “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” ( 2 Cor 10:4-6 NKJV) Don’t allow the enemy to pay for a room in the hotel of your mind with the currency of deception or the credit card of perversion! Reserve space for only those thoughts that are pleasing to God. Right thoughts lead to right actions. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil 4:8 ASV)

Prayer: Lord, help me to keep my thought life pure and free from any thoughts that are not pleasing to you or that will lead me away from your divine will and purpose for my life. Amen!

What A Benefit!


5-15-2009. . . . What A Benefit!

The Apostle Paul in Ephesians chapter one outlines beautifully the benefits believers have in Christ. Among the greatest of these benefits is the ‘forgiveness of sin.’ This benefit of course was made possible through the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. God took our sin and laid it all on Him. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”( 2 Cor 5:21) KJV Hallelujah! So now, in the evolutionary process of all things becoming new, should we sin, we can turn to God and receive forgiveness. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”( 1 John 1:9 KJV) Since we have the assurance of forgiveness if we should sin, should we not worry about sinning? Marvin Winans put it this way in a song, “Its good to know He’ll be there if ever I fall, but it’s better to know that I don’t have to fall at all!” “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:1-2 KJV) What a great benefit!

Prayer: Lord I thank you for the benefit of forgiveness! May I live in such way as to need less and less of it and ultimately, none of it. Amen!

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. Green Light!


5-14-2009. . . . Green Light!

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." {Heb 11:1 NIV) Have you ever been sitting at a stop light waiting for it to turn green and after waiting for what seemed like an eternity, the light changed, but you found yourself still sitting there? Although you had the green light, you did not move until prompted by the horn of the driver behind you! God has given someone the green light, but you haven’t moved yet! What are you waiting on! Today’s message is your prompting! It’s time to proceed! We seem to respond well when God gives us the red light to stop; even if we don’t like it, we stop! We also do well when God gives us the yellow signal to proceed with caution. It’s when God gives us the green signal to go, that we sometimes hesitate because of fear, the unknown, and even unbelief! Fear allowed to operate unchecked can cause stagnation. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7 NKJV) Unbelief is the opposite of faith and will deny you the benefit and blessing of pleasing God! "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Heb 11:6 KJV) IT’S TIME. . . .YOU HAVE THE GREEN LIGHT. . . .BEEP BEEP! GOD SAYS GO!

Spirit 24.7!


5-13-2009. . . .Spirit 24.7!

All across the United States there are virtually thousands of radio stations broadcasting at this very moment. Whatever you want to hear be it, music of all genres, news, sports, weather, even talk radio covering a plethora of topics, it all can be heard twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days of the year. Nonstop, the broadcasting is always available. Now, although all these stations are broadcasting at this moment, one must tune their radio to the right frequency in order to hear them! In like manner, God is broadcasting also and if one wants to hear what He is saying, one must tune in to 'His' frequency! What is God’s frequency? Spirit 24.7! For direction; Spirit 24.7! “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. “ (Rom 8:14) For help; Spirit 24.7! “And in the same way-by our faith --the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don't even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows, of course, what the Spirit is saying as he pleads for us in harmony with God's own will.” (Rom 8:26-27 TLB) For inspiration; Spirit 24.7! “I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: (Rev 1:10-11 KJV) For all your needs; Spirit 24.7! “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. . . “(Rev 2:11 KJV)
Spirit 24.7! Why not tune in today!


Prayer: Lord, I desire to hear you clearly today! Help me Holy Spirit, to remain tuned in to your frequency and not become distracted by other broadcasting voices. Amen!

God, What Are You Doing?


5-12-2009. . . .God, What Are You Doing?

Hello! Hello! How are you doing? Oh, I’m doing fine. . . .I’m okay. . . .(and for the super-spiritual) I’m blessed and highly favored!!! This fairly standard greeting, in one form or another, is played out countless thousands of times by Christians every day. Ever found yourself giving any of these standard responses while knowing on the inside you are feeling frustrated. . . maybe confused. . . .disappointed. . . .doubtful and flat out wanting to ask the question, God, what are you doing? I’ve been praying, believing, watching and most of all waiting yet, I have no answer and see no change? Quite a challenging place to be and one Satan would love to exploit in order to attack your faith. Here’s some things to remember: 1.) God’s plan for you! “For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. ( Jer 29:11 TLB) No matter how long it takes, His plan does not change! 2.) Be patient and wait! (A hard one, I know) but It’s apart of God’s plan! “Dear brothers,(and Sisters) is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow, and don't try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete. (James 1:2-4 TLB) 3.) You’re going to love the end result! “After you have suffered a little while, our God, who is full of kindness through Christ, will give you his eternal glory. He personally will come and pick you up, and set you firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever. To him be all power over all things, forever and ever. Amen.“ (1 Peter 5:10-11 LB) Finally, know that God is ‘In control’ and He has everything ‘Under Control!’ Trust Him!

Prayer: Lord, sometimes it is so hard to be patient, wait, and trust You! Yet, I am determine to believe you no matter what! Help thou my unbelief! Amen.

2 Chron 16:9. . . . For the eyes of the Lord search back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are perfect toward him, so that he can show his great power in helping them. TLB

The Tipping Point!


5-11-2009. . . . The Tipping Point!

Popeye the Sailor Man was a favorite cartoon watched by thousands of kids daily. Popeye lived a relatively normal life dealing with issues concerning his friends, his personal relationship with his girl, and of course with his enemies. In each episode, it seemed Popeye would get to a point where he could go no further or take anymore and he would say, "That's all I can stands and me can't stands no more!" At that point, Popeye would turn to his source of strength, a can a spinach! The spinach refreshed and strengthened him to deal with and dispose of the pressing dilemma. What do you do when you have reached your tipping point? Who do you call. . . . Where do you turn for your source of strength and refreshment? David offers a great option; "From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I." (Ps 61:22 NKJV) David recognized that his own strength, his own emotions, his own will was not enough to properly deal with and handle effectively what he was facing. He needed and looked to something higher. . . yea, even someone higher then himself! He looked to God as his rock (stability). It is a good model and wisdom dictates we take heed when we reach our next tipping point.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for being my rock of stability! Even when I feel overwhelmed, help me always look to you as my source and strength and never lean to my own understanding. Amen!

Ps 62:5-8. . . . My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. KJV

Temptation!


5-7-2009. . . .Temptation!

There is nothing more annoying on an otherwise beauty day in the sun than to have a fly buzzing around you. You hit at it. . . .swipe at it . . . .swing at it. . . .even (for some) swear at it. It leaves for a moment, but seems to somehow return. That’s how Satan is with temptation. He leaves you for moment, but seems to always return. Even Jesus while living here on earth as a man was not exempt from this tactic. “Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.”( Luke 4:13 NKJV) He waits, he watches and in the moment he feels you are most vulnerable or susceptible to his appeal, there he is back in your ear. Why is he so persistent? Perhaps he knows if we are not watchful, prayerful and careful, there is the possibility of us being drawn away and enticed. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:14-15 KJV) It’s clear by his persistent tactic that he wants to still, kill or destroy us and if he can get us to be complicit with his plan, all the better! When faced with the challenge of temptation remember, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”( Cor 10:13 KJV) Ask the Savior to help you. . . .comfort strengthen and keep you. . . .He is willing to aid you. . . .He will carry you through.


Prayer: Lord, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil! Help us always look for and see our way of escape. Amen!

Heb 4:15. . . .For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. KJV

"Live Long and Prosper!"



5-6-2009. . . ."Live Long and Prosper!"


One of the most popular television shows of all time is Star Trak! Leonard Nimoy played the character, Mr. Spock! Mr. Spock was from the planet Vulcan. On Vulcan, they greet one another with a wonderful salutation. With hand extended and fingers forming a “V” they would say, “Live Long and Prosper! Even as a young child, I was fascinated by that statement and I thought to myself, "Wow, they know God on Vulcan too!" Of course, as I grew older I came to understand that the show, it’s characters and even the planets were fictional. However, the Vulcan salutation is not fictional at all. As a matter of fact, it expresses God’s desire for us! Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2 NKJV) God’s desire is for us to first, have a long and healthy life. In fact, had Adam not sinned, we would have never experienced death or illness. Yet in spite of Adam’s disobedience, God’s desire for us remains the same. “…And let them say continually, "The LORD be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant." (Ps 35:27 NAS) Starting today, get in agreement with God’s desire for your life! Make sure you do your part! Eat healthy. . . .exercise daily. . . .get plenty of rest. (Be in Health) Be fruitful and multiply. . . . .Use your resources wisely and live within your means. . . . .keep the windows of heaven open for you by always returning unto God His tithe and our offerings of our time, talent and treasure. No More Compromise!


5-5-2009 . . . .No More Compromise!

One of the most powerful and inspiring stories in the Bible is that of the Hebrew boys and the fiery furnace. When faced with the decision to compromise, they preferred death rather than compromise. They demonstrated what it is to be steadfast and unmovable in their faith and trust in God. Their declaration: “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. (Dan 3:17-18 KJV) While we may not be called up to face something as drastic as a burning fiery furnace, we are constantly called upon to compromise or simply, “go along to get along.” No prayer in our schools. . . .same sex marriages. . . unmarried men and women living together. . . . divorce. . . .abortion and on and on and on! All these things have become norms in our society and we ‘the church’ remain silent! "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. (Matt 5:13 NIV) God is calling us to blow the trumpet in Zion and sound an alarm! NO MORE COMPROMISE! With the same determination as the Hebrew boys, we must demonstrate our faith and trust in God and stand against Satan and his plan of weakening believers through compromise!


Prayer: Lord, forgive us for compromising and just going alone. Help us to make a stand against all sin and unrighteousness! Thy kingdom come! Amen!

It's Not Magic, It's A Method!


5-4-2009. . . . Not Magic, It’s A Method!

‘ABRACADABRA’ a word invoked by magicians to bring about amazing results like pulling a rabbit out of a hat. . . .making something appear or disappear. . . .turning an object into something completely different from what it was. Perhaps many in their younger and more impressionable days tried to invoke this word in real life situations hoping to obtain the same result. However, they quickly learned that while it made for great entertainment, magical words and tricks have no effect or power in the real world. The world’s way is not God’s way! “… ye have not, because ye ask not. (James 4:2 KJV) God’s way is not magic, but a simple method. "Ask, and you will be given what you ask for. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Anyone who seeks, finds. If only you will knock, the door will open. (Matt 7:7-9 TLB ) Ask in faith. . . .Seek, focus with expectation. . . .Knock, follow through calling the things that be not as though they were! It’s not Magic, It’s a Method!
